Do Gen Z Workers Lack The Essential Soft Skills To Succeed? You Make The Call

Many executives and employees think entry-level Gen Z workers lack essential soft skills like collaboration, communication, and adaptability.

According to the report, the COVID-19 pandemic affected Gen Z's college experience, limiting their opportunities for in-person internships and human interaction.

There is a pressing need for Gen Z workers to improve both soft and hard skills, such as coding, database management, and network security.

According to the source:

Nearly half of executives surveys, 49%, and over a third of employees, 37%, pointed to a lack of soft skills as the main problem with entry-level workers. Soft skills include traits like collaboration, communication and adaptability, the survey said.

Even Gen Z respondents themselves seemed to agree with this, with 40 percent saying soft skills were a "primary gap in entry-level job preparation," the survey said. https://www.yahoo.com/news/today-entry-level-employees-not-215954776.html (Nov. 19, 2024).

So, the question for our readers is: Do Gen Z Workers Lack The Essential Soft Skills To Succeed?

Please take the poll. Here is the opinion of one of the McCalmon editorial staff:

Jack McCalmon, Esq.

Do Gen Z workers lack soft skills when compared to older employees? Sure, but those older employees lacked the soft skills too until they learned them.  In other words, it is from inexperience than from some generational deficiency, in my opinion. Learning from more experienced employees is the best way for Gen Z employees to learn soft skills.
